Readers panning in Politics Insider for “tough story” about dogs in the Biden White House

Social media users were amused on Monday when Politics Insider announced that all 23 members of President Biden’s cabinet had been called – not to ask about the border crisis or the alarming April job report that was nowhere near projections but to get the information about pets in the White House.

“We contacted all 23 members of Biden’s cabinet to find out more about their furry friends,” Politics Insider told in a follow-up tweet. “Not every member of the cabinet replied, but so far nobody has posed as a cat owner.”

BIDEN’S DOGS ARE BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE AFTER SOMEONE’S BIG BIT, SAYS PSAKI

The reporters introduced the transport minister Pete Buttigieg and the dog Buddy of husband Chasten Buttigieg to the readers. Insider also introduced Home Secretary Deb Haaland as the proud owner of Salty, a “salty Chihuahua,” and Peppa, a black miniature poodle, rather than asking Haaland their story, which conservatives call a radical record, like co-sponsoring the Green New Deal calling for fracking to be banned in 2019.

Those weren’t the only smells, the readers noted. Why, they wondered, did Politics Insider spend valuable time on the phone with the Biden administration asking about their pets while thousands of migrants and unaccompanied children still flock to the U.S.-Mexico border, and only 266,000 new ones in April Jobs were created.

“Hard stories,” replied social media users to inside dog content.

BIDEN’S FIRST 100 DAYS: TEN TIMES THE MEDIA COMPLETELY LIKE THE NEW PRESIDENCE

The White House pets could use some good press.

Biden’s Dog Major, a 3-year-old German Shepherd, recently bit two employees and needed additional training to adapt to life as a first pet. This controversy earned only one downplayed line in the report: “Major caused minor scandals with two biting incidents; he has reportedly received additional training.”

The point of sale suggested whether or not Biden will welcome a cat to the White House: “Biden has promised that he will also bring a cat to the White House, but the first family has not revealed any details yet.”
