Arizona Police Find Children Dead At Home, Mother Tells Police Officers She “Heard Voices”

Police in Tempe, Arizona made a terrifying discovery Saturday morning when they found two dead children in an apartment after the mother told officers she heard voices asking to kill her children.

The mother, whose identity has not been released by the police, is currently being questioned. She was not charged.

She originally stopped the police in Tempe around 7:00 a.m. and told officers that she heard voices. When police arrived at her family’s home, they found a 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy dead in the house “with obvious signs of physical trauma,” said Tempe PD.

On Saturday morning, police responded to a domestic dispute at the residence between the husband and wife.

“Everything seemed fine at the time. The parties were separated. The children were in good shape and fine and alive at this point,” said Steven Carbajal, spokesman for Tempe PD, at a press conference on Saturday. “But it was very tragic what officers saw this morning.”

Carbajal said the children were “safe in their beds” when officers left the apartment and that CPS was not called to the scene.

“There didn’t seem to be an immediate threat to the children,” Carbajal said. “Parents, couples argue and they have disagreements and they have problems that come up, but that doesn’t always trigger a CPS reaction.”

The father was separated from the mother after the first call and was not in the apartment when the police found the two deceased children.
