Timothée Chalamet plays the young Willy Wonka in Warner Bros.

Timothée Chalamet will play the world’s most famous chocolatier in “Wonka”, a musical based on the early life of Willy Wonka.

Though the details of the plot have been kept under wraps, the Warner Bros. prequel will examine the upbringing of the man who later created the famous confectionery house. Chalamet representatives confirm that in the film he will sing and dance.

Roald Dahl’s popular children’s book “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” follows a poor boy named Charlie Bucket who wins a golden ticket to visit the world-famous and closely guarded chocolate factory owned by Willy Wonka. With the upcoming film taking place before the chocolate factory opens, Charlie and Company will not appear in “Wonka”.

Gene Wilder memorably portrayed the Candy Man in the 1971 film adaptation entitled “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” and Johnny Depp later portrayed the role of the reboot of “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” directed by Tim Burton in 2005. Burton’s retelling briefly went into Willy Wonka’s backstory, including his dad who hates candy and is a dentist, as well as meeting the Oompa Loompa who keep his factory going. Even so, there is a lot of material to traverse in the upcoming film. Will it explain the origin of snozberries? Only time can tell.
