From diving to zip lining, this is what you should add to your bucket list this summer

As the United States pulls out of COVID restrictions and begins a return to normal, many are witnessing the familiar pre-summer scramble for activities to keep the family busy during the warmer months.

Fox Nation’s Abby Hornacek helps viewers make the most of the outdoors and take advantage of the warm weather with action-packed excursions and travel ideas that she documents on her popular show, Park’d.

“Before this show, I was a big believer in being a tourist in America because there are so many incredible places,” Hornacek told Fox News. “But when you actually visit these places, you hear the stories about the geology and the history of their creation, that really enriches the experience – and I wanted to share that.”

Here are some of Hornacek’s most popular destinations:

Climbing in Joshua Tree National Park

With eerie rock formations and strangely beautiful trees for which this land is named, Joshua Tree National Park covers approximately 800,000 acres that span two of the largest deserts in North America – the Colorado and the Mojave. Although the park feels remote, it’s surprisingly accessible, Hornacek explains subsequently, noting that it’s only about an hour from Palm Springs’ manicured golf courses and posh spa resorts.

“I can only describe this experience as surreal,” said the Fox Nation host. “There is no better way to assimilate Joshua Tree’s climbing culture than choosing a Mega Classic to climb up to. As I climbed this rock, I felt truly invincible. I could hear the sounds of nature and feel the fresh breeze in the air – which we don’t get in New York! When I reached the summit around sunset, I was able to enjoy the beautiful park with two unique ecosystems for miles. I really had a spiritual experience, to be able to witness the beauty God has given us that we sometimes fail to enjoy. “

Airboating through the Miccosukee Indian Reservation in the Everglades

The Miccosukee Indian Reservation is divided into three sections in two counties of South Florida, explains Hornacek. This surviving Miccosukee tribe village is 20 miles west of Miami on the Tamiami Trail.

“It was a unique experience speaking to a descendant of the Miccosukee tribe as we took an airboat through the swampy waters of the Everglades,” she said. “I loved learning how the tribe colonized the land and learned to live with the alligators! Our guide even took us to an island that doesn’t allow tours to show us a real settlement in the Everglades . “

Diving in the US Virgin Islands

Virgin Islands National Park has beautiful beaches and educational walks, and offers travelers a glimpse into the past with historical markings along the way, explains Hornacek. Visitors from all over the world come to dive the coral reefs or snorkel to discover hidden marine life, an experience Hornacek describes as nothing short of “incredible”.

“Above water, the USVI National Park is a sight that will take your breath away,” said Hornacek afterwards. “We could see that while parasailing in an area where we could get a bird’s eye view of the park. As incredible as the experience was, it was even more magical to explore the park underwater. The wildlife and tranquility are mine already watch the memorable adventure in the USVI National Park intensively.

Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park stretches across parts of Montana and Idaho, mainly in Wyoming. Yellowstone features dramatic canyons, alpine rivers, lush forests, hot springs, and bubbling geysers, including the most famous Old Faithful. It is also home to hundreds of species of animals.

“From calm to madness, I prepared for a ride on the Yellowstone River. And I just left, I thought it couldn’t get any more intense, ”says Hornacek afterwards. “I hung 250 feet above the edge of Yellowstone National Park from a zip line.”
