House Republican Leader Rep. Kevin McCarthy became the newest and highest-ranking Republican elected to be Dr. Anthony asked Fauci to leave his role as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
“The American people have no confidence in Dr. Fauci,” McCarthy told Breitbart News on Saturday. “Let’s find someone we can trust. Put politics aside, I mean, we’re talking about the lives of Americans here.”
When the interviewer asked him if that means, “You think he has to go,” McCarthy admitted.
“Yes, because you don’t trust him,” he replied.
Fauci, who led NIAID through presidents of both parties for decades, is now also the senior medical advisor to the White House to President Joe Biden.
McCarthy calls for his removal and joins Sens. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., Who called for the doctor’s resignation on Friday, and Marco Rubio, R-Fla., Who called on Biden to release Fauci in a Fox News operation, published Saturday morning.
Other House Republicans calling for Fauci to step down include Rep. Guy Reschenthaler, R-Pa., And Rep. Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, the latter of whom tabled a bill in May that would make the government’s foremost infectious disease specialists force to resign.
SEN. MARCO RUBIO: IF BIDEN BELIEVES IN SCIENCE, HE MUST FAUCI. TO FIRE
Demands for Fauci to resign follow revelations that U.S. National Health Institutes have sent money to China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology, which may have caused the first COVID-19 outbreak.
“It doesn’t take an excessive imagination to grasp human infallibility or to wonder why a coronavirus pandemic might break out for the first time in the very same city that housed a laboratory specifically studying this class of viruses,” wrote Rubio. “Some scientists have been careful about remaining open to a number of options, but others, like Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute for Allergies and Infectious Diseases, dismissed the idea that the virus could have come from a laboratory massive judgment failure for a prominent public health official. “
However, in a daily press conference earlier this week, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said she could not imagine any circumstances under which Biden Fauci would fire.
But Fauci emails that Buzzfeed News received under the Freedom of Information Act were also criticized.
WALL STREET JOURNAL EDITORIAL: ‘REASON TO ASK’ WHY FAUCI WAS SLOW TO ACCEPT CORONAVIRUS LAB-LEAK THEORY
In an email dated February 2020, before the outbreak turned into a pandemic, Fauci wrote that wearing a face mask to the airport would not help protect its wearer from the virus.
“The typical mask you buy in the drugstore is not really effective for staying out [the] Virus that is small enough to penetrate the material, “he wrote.” However, it may have a small advantage in terms of storage[ing] release coarse droplets when someone coughs or sneezes on you. I don’t recommend wearing a mask. “
Masks worked better when worn by infected people to prevent them from transmitting their own germs to healthy viewers, he said.
Another email from Dr. Peter Daszak – the leader of the nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance that helped fund research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology – thanked Fauci for rejecting the laboratory leak theory.

Fauci later said that at the time he believed the virus had most likely leaked from an animal to humans, but had not ruled out the possibility that it might have escaped the laboratory. The possibility that it escaped the virology institute, either intentionally or accidentally, was dismissed as a crazy theory by public academics, Democrats, and the mainstream media for months – until May, forcing the Biden government to take it seriously.
Davidson’s Fauci Incompetence Requires Early Dismissal Act, or FIRED Act, would limit the tenure of the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to 12 years. Fauci has held this role since 1984.

“Americans have been under the leadership of Dr. Fauci for decades and he has not publicly responded adequately to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Davidson said at the time. “It is time he stood aside so that the new leadership can ‘follow the science’ and begin reopening America.”
