Joy Reid Defends Harris Not To Go To The Limit: “Maybe an Unpopular Opinion”

MSNBC’s Joy Reid on Tuesday apologized for the fact that Vice President Kamala Harris still failed to visit the US-Mexico border, admitting it was an “unpopular opinion” as Harris continues to be cursed for not making the trip .

“This may be an unpopular opinion in the industry right now, but I think we need to have perspective,” said Reid.

The far-left host praised Harris ‘trip to Guatemala and began with a self-described curse about the United States’ “long dirty history” with Central America.

“The United States’ southern border with Mexico is not the only major issue that matters to the world,” Reid said. “These seven countries have a long history with the United States, many of which are troubling. The United States essentially used much of Central America as a vast plantation. Google the United Fruit Company. We have a long, dirty, hot history with this region. ”

“There is a whole story that goes back long before people arrived at the border between Mexico and the United States. And to reduce what we just heard, ten minutes of it, to ‘Are you going to the border?’ for me – I personally seem to be missing out on a great opportunity. ”

Reid argued that Harris’s presence in Guatemala was the right step and that a trip to the border was nothing more than a “photo opportunity”.

“Had to get this out tonight, all of you,” Reid tweeted. “Because the @vp Taking a photo op at the border is NOT the be-all and end-all to address the SEVERAL PROBLEMS the Central American region faced long before migration. We need a comprehensive regional solution, not just a border visit. “

Reid’s defense of Harris followed her maligned meeting with NBC’s Lester Holt on Tuesday. When asked why she has not yet visited the US-Mexico border, she replied, “I’ve never been to Europe … I don’t understand what you mean.”

“It’s like a clip from Veep … and really, really uncomfortable”, tweeted “The Views” Meghan McCain.

“The @VP doesn’t dance well around border issues, “agreed CNN political commentator Alice Stewart.

It has been 77 days since Harris was named Biden’s main character in the border crisis.
