The angry husband is accused of punching his wife with a crowbar before escaping on a motorcycle. Several witnesses called 911 to report the malicious attack.
The woman used the bus stop daily to get to work, sources said.
Aponte parked the motorcycle on West 163rd Street and Fort Washington Avenue – before telling a park attendant that he killed his wife, sources said.
The guard asked him to call the police – which prompted Aponte to call 911 and claim he murdered the woman for cheating on him, the sources said.
He was arrested minutes later without incident in a West Harlem parking garage on West 134th Street and charged with attempted murder and second degree assault.
The crowbar, wrapped in plastic, was later recovered from the crime scene along with Aponte’s backpack, sources said.
