Trump railed against Covid vaccines for “very young people”

“Now we have to go back and the schools have to open – honestly we’re lucky to have the vaccine. But the vaccine against very young people is something that really needs to be stopped, ”Trump said. “You have to rule your country again – I mean, I don’t see any reasons – and I firmly believe in what we did with the vaccine. It’s amazing what we did. You see the results. “

Trump went on to make a claim he made on the White House podium last summer when justifying a return to face-to-face schooling in the fall of 2020.

“But every schoolchild where it’s 99.99 percent just doesn’t have it – you know, it’s just not or badly affected,” he said. “I think you need to get a vaccine to think about because I think it’s unnecessary.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is urging teens to get vaccinated, citing the recent increase in Covid-associated hospital stays and the potential for serious illness in the age group.

Children under the age of 12 who are not yet eligible for a Covid vaccine are less prone to the disease, but not untouched, as the former president on Fox seemed to suggest.

More than 2,000 children have been diagnosed with multisystem inflammatory syndrome since the pandemic began, and more than 30 have died from the rare disease. The disease associated with Covid causes symptoms such as rashes, conjunctivitis, and stomach problems. MIS-C primarily attacks a child’s heart.

And although they are often less prone to symptomatic Covid-19 infection than adults, children are still carriers of Covid and contribute to the spread of the virus.
