Montreal Canadien’s interim coach Dominique Ducharme has been sent home and is isolating himself after irregularities in COVID-19 tests.
The Canadiens canceled the Ducharme press conference ahead of the game on Friday. The club says it will provide another update ahead of Game 3 of the NHL semi-finals against the Vegas Golden Knights on Friday night at the Bell Center.
Canadians say Ducharme will undergo further tests before the game. The team says Ducharme received his second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on June 9.

The Canadiens and Golden Knights are tied 1-1 in the best-of-seven series after Montreal split with a 3-2 win in Game 2 in Vegas.
Ducharme was promoted from assistant to interim head coach after Claude Julien’s dismissal on February 24th.
Under Ducharme, the Canadiens finished fourth in the all-Canadian North Division before upset Toronto and Winnipeg in the first two playoffs.
The Golden Knights have already seen this scenario this postseason. Colorado Avalanche trainer Jared Bednar missed a morning ice skate due to an irregularity in the COVID-19 test. He was then released to coach in Game 6 of the second round series against Vegas.
