LAX traveler opens the door after a possible kidnapping attempt, jumps out of the plane

A flight from Los Angeles International Airport was reportedly delayed Friday night after a passenger opened a plane door and jumped out while the plane was taxiing prior to takeoff.

The incident was reportedly investigated as an attempted kidnapping, although no further details on the allegation were immediately available.

It also happened the same day that Vice President Kamala Harris reportedly landed at the same airport on her way to her home in LA’s Brentwood neighborhood earlier that day after visiting El Paso, Texas. The Texas trip was Harris’ first visit to the US-Mexico border region since his appointment as Vice President.

The suspect was rushed to hospital for his injuries after using the plane’s auto-inflated evacuation slide to exit the plane, according to FOX 11 from Los Angeles.

The suspect tried several times to open the cockpit door but eventually opened an exit door, FOX 11 reported.

The SkyWest flight to Salt Lake City finally took off at 10:36 p.m. PT, after originally scheduled to depart at 6:55 p.m.

On Thursday night, another suspect is said to have broken through a gate of a FedEx air cargo facility at the same airport and driven onto the airfield. At least two runways were temporarily closed when the driver was taken into custody.
