Bill Cosby supporter Phylicia Rashad called “Fresh Prince” star Janet Hubert over a celebratory tweet


Phylicia Rashad receives backlash from another television star for supporting Bill Cosby.

When Cosby’s conviction was overturned and he was released from prison on Wednesday, Rashad took to Twitter to celebrate the freedom of her former Cosby show co-star.

It wasn’t long before she drew the public ire of supporters of Cosby’s accusers and now “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” Janet Hubert has proclaimed the TV icon.

“Phylicia, what do you think! I don’t know you, but to say that was terribly wrong. EVERYONE knew what they were doing back then. ” She wrote. “How could you NOT do that! Get your umbrella sista, here comes the shit shower. I am outraged that he has been released. Yes, he’s an old, guilty man! “

“I would have said he’s old, he’s out and I’m happy for him, but he’s still … guilty. I know 5 women who didn’t come forward,” said the actress added. “Enough, we know better. Powerful men do wrong things, black or white …”

Rashad officials did not immediately respond to Fox News’ requests for comment.

Cosby was serving over two years of a three to ten year prison term in a state prison near Philadelphia when his conviction was overturned on technical grounds on Wednesday.

After the court’s decision became known, Rashad celebrated on Twitter, saying, “A miscarriage of justice will be corrected!”

“AT LAST!!!! A terrible injustice will be redeemed… ”Rashad wrote about a photo of her former co-star.

Hours later, she went back on the tweet and shared an additional message.

“I fully support that survivors of sexual assault report,” she wrote online. “My contribution should in no way be insensitive to its truth. I personally know from friends and family that such abuse has lifelong aftereffects.

Cosby, now 83, and Rashad, now 73, played husband and wife on “The Cosby Show” from 1984 to 1992.
