Victor Davis Hanson: The Left’s “Vague” Claim that America is Intrinsically Racist “Judged” by “Metrics”

Victor Davis Hanson, Senior Fellow of the Hoover Institution, argued that claims that America is inherently racist can be “judged” by “metrics” on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Thursday, claiming that the left “never” Provides data and instead continues their “vaguely racist this and racially this” program.

“A minority, a little over 12 percent, does not elect a black president of the United States. A racist society would not allow that,” said Hanson. “You wouldn’t allow Kamala Harris to become vice president. You wouldn’t have a race in North Carolina where both Republican and Democratic candidates are black.”

Hanson’s argument comes in response to the Utah chapter of the July 4th Black Lives Matter Declaration calling those who hoist the American flag “racist.”

“This is not the generation that emerged from the civil rights movement,” he said. “Ralph Abernathy, Bayard Rustin, Martin Luther King, they were assimilationists, integrationists, the content of our character. They felt and experienced terrible racism, and they came from impoverished backgrounds.”

Hanson further pointed to the hypocrisy of many leftists for their cries of racism, despite being “privileged people” who are “the epitome of the American dream”.

“We listen to some of the most privileged people in the United States,” he said. “LeBron James, Meghan Markle, Oprah Winfrey. And then we have Mr. Kennedy or Cornel West … They all grew up in upper-middle-class families. They were the epitome of the American dream. They had equal opportunities. They were great successful. It’s a completely different phenomenon. “

Hanson was referring specifically to Michelle Obama’s testimony from a “CBS This Morning” interview in May in which she stated she was concerned about “racism” and “fear” that her daughters were being stereotyped in the US and argued that these calls are an “abstraction from the elite” and do not represent the “concerns” of “actually poor and marginalized people” from inner cities across the country.

“[Michelle] Obama, what is she doing? She ventures from her $ 14 million Martha’s Vineyard home on vacation from her $ 12 million Washington, DC mansion. And then she tells us that her daughter is in danger if she goes out on the street, “exclaimed Hanson.

“We have been told if we only had African American mayors or attorneys general or police chiefs, and that doesn’t seem to be helping. And so we have existential problems that need to be addressed. And Michelle Obama’s society, which puts her daughters at risk if they … She knows, and she knows carefully that she will not move back to her Chicago mansion. That would be very unwise in view of the security in Chicago. And yet nobody talks about these existential problems. And so this race, race, race, it’s an abstraction among the elite. It’s not about the actual poor and marginalized people in the city center. “
