AL extends All-Star Game winning streak with the latest win over NL


The American League won their eighth MLB All-Star Game in a row on Tuesday night, beating the National League 5-2.

The AL was triggered by Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s 468-foot home run in the second inning. He finished the night 3-1 on the thing and two RBIs before being replaced by Matt Olson.

The AL All-Stars crossed two runs in the fifth inning thanks to a single from Xander Bogaerts scored by Cedric Mullins. A floor made of Guerrero would score Teoscar Hernandez.

Mike Zunino scored a home run in the sixth inning and extended the lead to 5-1.

The National League got runs from JT Realmuto, who scored a home run from Gregory Soto. Manny Machado would score in the sixth inning thanks to a pass.

The National League threatened in the eighth inning.

With two outs and bases loaded, Kris Bryant hit a liner in left field only to be tracked down by Jared Walsh. The game ended the threat and saved the game for the American League.

Shohei Ohtani, who beat the leadoff and started for the American League, received the win. Cobrin Burnes was marked defeat and Liam Hendriks got the save.

Guerrero was named an MVP. He was the first player in the Toronto Blue Jays and the youngest to win the award.

The National League has not won an All-Star Game since 2012.
